Welcome

Ferryhill School has gone from strength to strength and I am incredibly proud of how our school community pulls together to provide exemplary support, raise aspirations and build students' integrity, creativity and excellence.

Young people and their parents can expect to receive a high quality education that aims to stretch all students and foster ambition.

We look to blend the traditional standards of outstanding behaviour, regular and punctual attendance, a positive attitude to learning with the most modern resources, innovative practice and teaching towards challenging targets.

We work closely with students and their parents listening to all, addressing needs, raising expectations, confidence and self esteem.

Great Results Year on Year

The students who have completed their education at Ferryhill School have left a fantastic legacy with record results in recent years. Our history is such that, has in its time, also been recognised as one of the Top 100 schools in England for improving student’s GCSE results.

  • Recognised in the top 3% of similar schools for progress.

  • English and Maths results are in the top 7% of similar schools.

  • Our BTEC results are amongst the very highest in England with national rankings in the Top 1%.

Never Ending Support

Our recent change to Ferryhill School has been an opportunity to showcase what matters to us.

The infinity symbol on our new logo was chosen to represent the life time of learning that we prepare our students for; as well as the never ending support we aim to provide.

Excellence

At Ferryhill School we give all students opportunities to perform, accomplish and excel in scholastic activities inside and outside of the classroom. We strive for excellence in all that we do.

Beyond Ferryhill School

Our commitment to widening the world of our students led to 46,000 extra-curricular hours and a further 3,500 of afterschool clubs last year.

Highlights of our "Ferryhill Adventures" include:

  • Trips to Seychelles, Toronto and France last year, with finance secured for Kenya, Dubai, California, Vietnam and San Diego in 2022-23.

  • Visits across the UK London, Lake District, Thorpe Park and Alton Towers, as well as lots of local visits to museums and cultural sites.

  • Our Student Leadership programme builds essential skills and confidence as well as making decisions for Ferryhill School.

  • Raising aspiration visits and speakers from colleges, universities, and inspiring entrepreneurs.

Our aim at Ferryhill School is to ensure every single student receives the best possible standard of education.

The broad and rich curriculum has been designed to recognise children’s prior learning and provide first hand learning experiences, which allow our students to develop interpersonal skills, build resilience and become creative, critical thinkers.

Our carefully sequenced curriculum helps students to achieve our mission of ‘Achievement for all’.

We deliver all the courses on the national curriculum including English Language, English Literature, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Combined Science, French, History, Geography, Religious Studies, Art, ICT, Technology, Sports Studies and Personal Development.

We also offer the following carefully chosen courses that link to vocational future of our students: Enterprise, Health and Social Care, Engineering, Technology, Digital Information Technology, Performing Arts, Music, Fine Art and Photography.
